Wharton Elementary School

Welcome to WES! Dear Parents, Families and Friends of Wharton Elementary School,

As the principal of this Exceptional Elementary School, I am energized and deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of your children. Our remarkable staff, involved parents and committed students come together to make Wharton Elementary a wonderful place to be challenged intellectually, grow socially, and develop as independent thinkers and problem solvers.  Setting high academic expectations for all children coupled with high standards for teaching and learning is what drives our work every single day, and for which supportive systems for both students and teachers are built.

This year we will focus on building an outstanding GT program, we will involve students in after school clubs, we will have an impressive science lab that all students use, all teachers are trained on the latest technology to enhance the learning process, we will challenge each student and provide opportunities for success.

Research and experience shows us that a parent’s/guardian’s involvement in a child’s education is directly related to his/her success in school.  To maximize your child’s success, emphasize the importance of education through the following:

  • Ensure that your child is at school on time each day

  • Attend parent/teacher conferences and school events

  • Monitor your child’s homework daily

  • Expect and support positive behavior at school

  • Read with your child or encourage your child to read daily

In addition, there are numerous volunteer opportunities in which we welcome you to become involved.  Volunteers make a tremendous positive impact and enrich our educational program.  More information regarding volunteering at Wharton Elementary can be found in the student handbook or call us at 979-532-6882 and ask for information on volunteering.

I look forward to partnering with you to make this an exciting and successful year for our students.  Thank you in advance for your support and commitment.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to to contact me at 979-532-6882 or jmann@whartonisd.net.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Mann

WES Principal
